From our inception, Associates has been dedicated to providing our Members with reliable entomological pest control advice from our staff of licensed Pest Control Advisors (PCA). Associates' serves commercial citrus and avocado growers in Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties who are similarly focused on the production of top quality fruit. This is the principle our cooperative was founded upon in 1928.
Mealybugs are pests on many permanent and greenhouse crops causing significant damage when not properly controlled. Chemical control is effective in some cases. However, in most situations, the unseen control of these pests by beneficial wasps and beetles is substantial.

Like other pests in the Pseudococcidae family, mealybugs attract ants and create sooty mold which further damages crops.
Uncontrolled mealybug infestations not only reduce yield, but lead to leaf drop and plant stress or even death.

Control of Spider Mites on a Variety of Plants Associates Insectary raises and sells tens of millions of this highly effective mite each year.
Associates Insectary hand raises millions of these predatory mites each month by feeding them actual pest mite eggs, not an artificial food source.
This expensive and labor intensive practice maintains a strong hunting instinct in our colony and provides a naturally balanced diet for them.
The Californicus mite (Neoseiulus californicus) is a predatory mite valued for its ability to consume large quantities of pest mite eggs, while still surviving in the field when its primary host mite becomes scarce and other more popular species would die out.

After being contacted by concerned grape growers who realized the need to incorporate biological control into their pest control program, Associates began rearing Anagyrus vladimiri (formerly pseudococci) wasps in 2010.
This beneficial wasp complements Associates' Cryptolaemus beetles which are the industry standard for mealybug control in numerous crops.
The use of these two beneficials gives grape growers an effective "one-two" punch to combat Vine mealybug in both low and high VMB populations.
