A gopher is an underground rodent that creates damage to plants, trees, ornamental's, and other vegetative areas.
They can also do damage to irrigation lines, leech lines, and more while tunneling.
Gophers have long front teeth that are utilized to create a series of runs and chambers underground.
Inactivity is not an option for them as the teeth will overgrow and they will starve to death.
Gophers are usually nocturnal, though they will sometimes come out during the day.
Gophers are distinguished by their horseshoe shaped mounds as well as holes (known as feed holes) that have been filled in with dirt.
Moles: Moles are insectivores.
They create runs that seem maze like and are just an inch or so below ground.
Their runs can prove to be unsightly and they can dry up roots of plants with their runs, but I find this to be uncommon.
They usually just move on after feeding.
Mole control is a must protect your lawns and landscape form damage.
Voles (aka meadow mouse): Voles damage a variety of vegetation from the bottom of trees to grass to your garden.
They create holes in the ground which lead to shallow runs.
Rats and mice are problematic in so many ways.
They contaminate food, carry diseases, and cause destruction.
Both are mainly active at night.
Once they establish residence in your yard it is inevitable that they will eventually establish residence within the home or business, therefore it is important to gain control of them before that happens.
In general, rats can produce up to 20 - 40 offspring within a year (depending on the species and circumstances) and mice can produce up to 60 in a year.
Ground squirrels are very cute, but are also very destructive and carry diseases, specifically the plague.
The damage they create is multiple large sized holes and runs.
These holes and runs create a place to feed, sleep, raise young, and hibernate.
They are also created in order to escape predators by maneuvering from one run to the next.
Ground squirrel burrows can be in lawns, on hillsides, under trees, causing damage to your beautiful landscaping.
Hillside erosion is a common result of squirrel invasion.
